Close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and this week's Derby. Is the human condition ever more poignant than when it falls just short? Sometimes almost is good enough. But you can't cross a chasm in two leaps; if you finish second in the presidential election, you don't get to work part-time at the White House; and the difference between a delicious steak dinner and a painful bacterial infection is just a question of follow-through. Ask the fourth-place vote-getter in any Derby how much almost is worth. We're looking for your nearly, not quite, just about, all but, purt near shirt designs, to capture the heartache of...almost.
